I Have Let

I have let the meaning of you drip into my bones,
let your salts suffuse my skin, your eyes my eyes.
Tectonic plates respond. I submit to you by choice.
The mountain gently speaks;
it cries avalanche tears; it greets the sun
with an upraised hand.
I am not frightened when I tell you I’m afraid.
The river chooses to look winter in the face
and freeze.
